The Baker's Hundred tool doesn't collect anything. The guides count visits with Google Analytics. Here's what happens on each part of this site.

The tool: your files stay on your computer

When you open a .bun file on the main page, your browser reads it right there on your computer. The file isn't uploaded, and we never get a copy. When you close the tab, it's gone.

The main page has no analytics, no ads, and no cookies. Its security policy blocks it from connecting to anything outside this site once it has loaded. You can check this yourself: after the page loads, turn off Wi‑Fi and open your files. Everything still works.

The guides: Google Analytics

The guides (pages whose address starts with bakershundred.com/guides/) use Google Analytics 4 so we can tell which guides help people. Google Analytics counts visits and collects your approximate location and information about your browser and device. Google says that Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses.

On the guides, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_8P4Y0VD464, which last up to 2 years. We limit them to the guides, so your browser doesn't send them when you use the main page.

We've turned off Google signals and ad personalization, and we don't use this data for advertising. Google Analytics keeps detailed visit data for 2 months.

If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google Analytics doesn't read or write cookies on this site. Google may still receive basic information that doesn't use cookies, such as the time, your browser type, and the page that linked you here.

Turn off analytics

Turn on JavaScript to change this setting.

Google also makes a browser add-on that turns off Google Analytics on every website: Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Our host: Cloudflare

This site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles each request to the site, including technical details such as your IP address and browser, so it can deliver and protect the site. We see only totals in Cloudflare's dashboard, such as the number of requests and visitors and the top countries. We don't get a list of individual visits. Cloudflare explains its own practices in its privacy policy.

Sample files you email us

If Baker's Hundred can't open a file, it asks you to email the file to samples@bakershundred.com. Nothing is sent unless you write and send that email yourself. When you do, we receive:

We use the file to add support for files like it. We use it as a public test sample only if you say yes in your email. Otherwise we keep it private. If you'd like us to delete your email and file, ask at the same address and we will.

Email to this address is forwarded to our inbox through Cloudflare Email Routing.
